Graduate Student Learning Circle Series Fall 2021
The Center will hold graduate student learning circles every other Friday at 3 pm beginning from 9/10 via Zoom. These are open to graduate students from any university. The fall 2021 semester’s graduate student learning circles will be held 9/24, 10/8, 10/22, 11/5, 11/19, 12/3, and 12/17. Participants are invited to sign up for a slot if interested in presenting or facilitating a discussion this semester. Please email Garland Mason at email@example.com to sign up.
Here's the basics of what we’ll do this semester: students are welcome to present on a theme as you’re preparing for a defense (thesis, dissertation, prelims, etc), they can practice a conference presentation with us and request feedback, they can test a paper idea and facilitate a discussion around it, they can spark a methodology question or get feedback on an instrument, they can suggest a podcast to listen to or paper to read before the session and facilitate a discussion around that, they can bring an idea or theme and we can discuss that. Just note: we really want to emphasize discussion and interdisciplinary learning. Presentations should be no longer than 30 mins, be for a general academic audience, and be accompanied by some discussion questions. This is an informal learning space and diverse pedagogies are welcomed here!
If you’d like to join for any or all sessions this semester, please email Garland Mason at firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to the email list and calendar invite for the semester.
